According to the statistics of State Statistics Bureau in Malaysia, its volume of goods trade was USD171.95 billion from January to June in 2016, down 10.0% year-on-year (the same below). Exports fell by 10.0% to USD91.10 billion, and imports fell by 9.9% to USD80.85 billion. The trade surplus was USD10.25 billion, down 10.5%.

In June, Malaysia’s volume of goods trade fell by 3.2% to USD31.25 billion. Exports fell by 5.3% to USD16.30 billion and imports fell by 0.8% to USD14.95 billion. And the trade surplus fell by 36.7% to USD1.35 billion.

Since January to June, bilateral trade volume between Malaysia and China fell by 9.2% to USD26.60 billion. Malaysia’s exports to China fell by 18.7% to USD10.35 billion. It accounted for 11.4% of Malaysia’s overall export, down 1.2%. And Malaysia’s imports from China fell by 2.1% to USD16.25 billion. It accounted for 20.1% of Malaysia’s overall imports, up 1.6% over the previous year. Malaysia’s trade deficit with China grew by 52.5% to USD5.90 billion.

China was the second largest export market of Malaysia and its largest source of imports just after Singapore up to June in 2016.
