US-based aluminum cans manufacturer Anheuser-Busch will start packaging 44,000 cases of emergency drinking water or 1,056,000 cans for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and other natural disasters.

According to Anheuser-Busch, more than 4,000 cases of canned water are already on the way to the company's distributors in the US.

The distributors include Harrison Beverage in Pleasantville and Ritchie & Page Distributing in Robbinsville, New Jersey. The cans will also be supplied to American Red Cross and other local disaster relief organizations.

Anheuser-Busch vice president of supply Peter Kraemer said relief workers and people in the region are in need of safe, clean drinking water, and the company is in a position to produce and ship large quantities of emergency drinking water.

"Our local distributors help identify those communities most in need, and work with relief organizations such as the American Red Cross to make sure the water gets where it's needed," Kraemer said.

Anheuser-Busch is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev and has donated more than 71 million cans of emergency drinking water following natural and other disasters.
