Sheet extrusion machinery manufacturer in the US, Processing Technologies International (PTi) has announced plans to invest $3m to expand equipment production in Aurora, Illinois.

PTi is set to increase overall plant capacity by 50%, through the expansion and will also add 40,000ft2 of primary manufacturing and office space, which will increase the facility space to 100,000ft2, plasticsnews.com reported.

The expansion, according to PTi, will encompass a feed screw testing and development center, which will serve as a proof-of-process resource for application development work.

PTi president Dana Hanson said the company's products are received throughout packaging markets in North America.

The company, which plans to break ground later this year with plans to be fully operational by spring 2013, has delivered a PET packaging line into Turkey.
