German packaging company Multivac Marking & Inspection has developed a tandem operation for cross web labelers that enables labelers to be installed very close to each other on the packaging machine.

The solution allows mechanical coupling of two labelers of the same type together and both work with just one longitudinal shift unit, which means they can no longer move independently of each other.

The labelers can be installed on the packaging machine in a space-saving way. An additional positive effect of the operation is also the commercial benefit that arises from the elimination of one longitudinal shift unit.

Multivac said a pneumatic clamp can be released when the cross web labelers in tandem operation require setting up.

A spindle adjustment mechanism with position display is used to set up the labeler to a new pack length.
